Who is responsible
The person responsible for the personal data this site collects is Sebastián Pando, a private individual based in Santiago, Chile. For any privacy matter, write through the contact form choosing the «Privacy» reason.
What data is collected
If you write through the form: your email (required, so that we can reply), your name if you give it, the reason, the message, the page it refers to if you give it, the date and your acceptance of this policy. To detect spam, Netlify and Akismet also process technical data about the submission, such as the IP address and the browser.
If you only visit the site: nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts, and the fonts are served from the site itself. Netlify, which hosts the site, processes the IP address and technical data of each visit, like any server, to deliver and protect the pages, under its own privacy policy. OGERIA does not receive those logs.
What it is used for
Only to reply to your message and, if it is a correction or a source, to review it. If the correction is applied, it goes into the changelog without your name or email, unless you ask to be credited. Your data is not sold, not shared and not used to send you anything you did not ask for.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give by sending the form and can withdraw at any time.
Who else sees it
These services process it on our behalf, all in the United States, so your data is stored outside Chile:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the site, receives the form, stores the messages and runs the chat function, with its daily counts.
- Akismet (Automattic Inc.), which Netlify uses to check whether a submission is spam.
- DeepInfra, Inc. runs the model that answers the chat (it only receives what you write in the chat).
Nobody else has access.
If you support OGERIA on Ko-fi
The «Support OGERIA» button opens the Ko-fi panel inside the page. Until you open it, your browser does not connect to Ko-fi. When you open it, it loads the Ko-fi page, which belongs to Ko-Fi Labs Limited (England and Wales) and may use its own cookies. The payment is processed by PayPal or Stripe and does not go through this site.
If you make a contribution, Ko-fi shares your name or username and your email with OGERIA, and PayPal or Stripe may share payment details. They are used only to record the contribution and to reply if you leave a message; they are not published or shared. What Ko-fi does with your data is governed by its privacy policy.
If you use the «Ask OGERIA» chat
What you write in the chat is sent, together with up to three earlier questions and answers from the same conversation, to DeepInfra, Inc. (United States), which runs the DeepSeek language model that writes the answer. DeepInfra states that it does not store what it receives on disk, does not log its content and does not use it to train models. The function that receives your question runs on Netlify. It also receives the page you ask from, which is only used to choose which parts of the observatory to look at first and is not sent to DeepInfra.
OGERIA does not keep your questions or their answers. It only counts what the chat costs each day and, to limit abuse, how many questions come from each IP address. To do that it does not store the IP but a code computed with a secret key from the IP (for IPv6, its /64 network) and the date, so anyone without the key cannot link one day's code to another's. Those counts are stored on Netlify, and a day's IP codes are deleted by the next day at the latest. The spending totals contain no personal data and are kept. The conversation stays in your browser (session storage) and is deleted when you close the tab.
Do not write personal data in the chat. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by sending a question.
How long it is kept
Messages are deleted no later than twelve months after they arrive, or earlier if you ask. An applied correction stays in the changelog, which contains no personal data.
What you write in the chat is not covered by these periods: OGERIA does not keep it. How long the IP codes and the spending totals are kept, and how long the conversation lasts in your browser, is explained in the section about the chat.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, correct it, delete it, object to its use, receive it in a portable format or ask for it to be blocked. These rights are recognised by Chilean Law 19,628 and by Law 21,719, which comes fully into force on 1 December 2026. To exercise them, use the contact form with the «Privacy» reason; replies are given within the deadlines the law sets.
If you believe your rights were not respected, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Agency created by Law 21,719.
Minors
If you are under 14, you need the permission of your mother, father or legal guardian to write through the form.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts collecting other data —for example, if an analytics tool is added—, this page is updated before that happens, and the change goes into the changelog.
